As things have been slowly warming back up, I am delighted to see more and more bees wandering the flower field in search of pollen, nectar or water. I even had one of my honeybees flying around me, only to take a short break resting on my shoulder for a bit while I was planting.
I have begun scheduling visits with different schools in the area to not only teach about honeybees and why they are so important, but I will also be bringing an observation hive in as well. This is such an amazing tool. I can bring a frame from my own hive into the class (encased in glass for safe viewing) and they are able to see, up close, the bees in action. We can look at the comb, the eggs, the difference between male and female bees and so much more. I am so looking forward to doing this once it is warm enough for them to make the journey!
