August sure was a hot one- and a wet one at the tail end too! The seemingly never-ending rain from Debbie put an end to most of the flowers that were on their last leg anyways. I have decided to leave the remaining bit of flowers where they are so the pollinators can enjoy them. They have slim pickings this time of year, so I am glad that these less than perfect looking flowers can still have a purpose even if they aren’t going to make it into a bouquet.
September is one of the most labor-intensive months at the farm, so this bit of calm in late August is welcomed and much needed. Deliveries have stopped and I have begun seeding (indoors yay!) my cool flowers for fall planting. I guess I officially have my first summer under my belt and I am so grateful for all that I have been able to accomplish. We were able to donate flowers to the CREECS graduating class, Revela Assisted Living for crafting and bouquet making and Friendship Place as centerpieces for their monthly dinner banquet.
Next month is all about amending and preparing the soil for the next season and I can’t wait to get back out there for those cooler mornings!
